Our wedding ceremony will take place in Contursi Terme, a small town approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive from Naples Airport.We will then have our reception at Castello di Rocca Cilento, which is around 1 hour 10 minutes drive from Contursi.As such we recommend overnighting the day before, either at our recommended hotels in Contursi (if joining the ceremony), or near Rocca Cilento if joining the ceremony directly.Public transport is near non-existent, but will get you close enough to Contursi for a pickup, otherwise we recommend car rental.We will have a coach service for Contursi - Rocca Cilento shuttling on the wedding day.
Driving times between Naples Airport, Contursi Terme and Castello di Rocca Cilento
Naples Capodichino Airport
Naples will be the best connected airport to reach the wedding - it is around 1hr 15min drive to Contursi Terme (where the ceremony will take place) or 1hr 45min to Castello di Rocca Cilento (reception venue) if coming directly to the reception.
Salerno Airport
This is a much smaller airport but is much closer (approximately 30 mins drive from Contursi).Last summer there were British Airways and Easyjet routes flying directly here from Gatwick, which makes a pickup much smoother, but at time of writing these routes have been cancelled.If they start up again this airport is definitely worth considering, but if you prefer car rental, there are none of the main rental chains in the airport - just a local one, so car can't be returned elsewhere.
Car Rental
Car rental is strongly recommended if you are able to, as neither Contursi nor Rocca Cilento are well connected by public transport.
Naples Airport has several car rental brands available (Avis, Hertz, Europcar etc.). Full list at below link.The drive to Contursi from Naples Airport is around 1hr 15 mins.If you are staying near Castello di Rocca Cilento, car rental will be essential as there is no public transport in the area to get you to the reception.
Trains
There are trains from Naples that head in the direction of Contursi, that get close enough for a pick up from Battipaglia (30 min drive away), but don't get the full way.
You will either need to get a cab (expensive) or the Alibus (around €5) from Naples Airport to Napoli Centrale Station in Piazza Garibaldi. The Alibus pickup stop is a 5 minute walk from the airport and should be signposted - you can buy your ticket with Apple Pay/Contactless when boarding.
From there you can get a train to Battipaglia (you may have to change at Salerno, but there are also direct ones available).
The best option to book tickets and check timetables is via the Trenitalia app, although Trainline does also offer Italian train tickets.
From Battipaglia it's a 30 minute drive to Contursi - there is some taxi availability in Battipaglia, although it likely cheaper & easier to arrange a pickup from your hotel.If the Battipaglia connection is problematic, let us know and we can look to get a friend/family member to come collect you.
